Introducing the First-Ever Coaches’ Huddle Award

At Oakland Lacrosse Club, coaches are at the heart of everything we do.

They are mentors, teachers, motivators, culture-builders, and steady sources of support for our players. They help young people grow their skills on the field while also building confidence, leadership, accountability, teamwork, and a deeper sense of belonging.

This year, we are proud to introduce the Coaches’ Huddle Award, a new annual recognition honoring current and former Oakland Lacrosse coaches who have made an exceptional impact on OLC and the broader Oakland lacrosse community.

The Coaches’ Huddle Award was created to celebrate coaches who go above and beyond. These are the people who don’t just show up for practices and games, but who help shape the experience of being part of Oakland Lacrosse. Their leadership reflects OLC’s core values and our legacy of empowerment, growth, and love for the game.

Through this award, we hope to preserve and celebrate the legacy of transformational coaches, while inspiring future generations of coaches and players to continue building what is possible through lacrosse in Oakland.

For the award’s inaugural year, Oakland Lacrosse is proud to recognize one middle school coach and one high school coach whose leadership during the Spring 2026 season reflects the heart of this work.

Congratulations to Coach Kameron Corprew

We are excited to announce that the first-ever Middle School Coaches’ Huddle Award has been awarded to Coach Kameron Corprew, coach of Edna Brewer’s Helmets team.

Coach Kam’s commitment to spreading awareness and enthusiasm for lacrosse among OUSD students and local community members has helped further the reach and impact of Oakland Lacrosse. His work helps introduce more young people to the game while strengthening the connection between OLC, schools, families, and the broader community.

Coach Kam demonstrates daily accountability, enthusiasm, and purpose for his players and for the OLC community at large. He brings energy and intention to his coaching, helping players not only learn the game, but feel proud to be part of it.

Please join us in giving Coach Kam two claps!

Congratulations to Coach Jenny Barrera

We are also excited to announce that the first-ever High School Coaches’ Huddle Award has been awarded to Coach Jenny Barrera, coach of Castlemont’s Goggles team.

Coach Jenny’s dedication to removing barriers for players and families represents the very foundation of Oakland Lacrosse Club. Her work ensures that more young people have the opportunity to participate, compete, grow, and experience the power of being part of a team.

She has built positive, honest, and trustworthy relationships with players, families, and colleagues, leaving a powerful mark on OLC and the young people she coaches. Her leadership shows our youth that the only effort worth giving is your all.

As High School Program Coordinator Erica shared:

“When I think of a coach who truly goes above and beyond, I think of Coach Jenny. This season alone, she’s coaching not just one, but two teams: middle school Goggles at Elmhurst and high school Goggles at Castlemont. Her commitment to growing lacrosse in East Oakland does not go unnoticed.

She pours into her athletes in ways that extend far beyond the game — giving rides, playing other sports to connect, and making time for simple but meaningful life check-ins. You can always count on her to show up for her players.

Her positive energy and relatability are magnetic, and they continue to be a driving force behind what makes her such a great coach.”

Please join us in giving Coach Jenny two claps!

Celebrating the Coaches Who Make OLC Possible

Our coaches help grow the game in Oakland and their impact goes far beyond lacrosse. They help young people build confidence, resilience, communication skills, and community. They create spaces where players can take risks, learn from mistakes, support one another, and discover what they are capable of.

Coach Kam and Coach Jenny represent the best of that work.

Congratulations to our first-ever Coaches’ Huddle Award honorees, and thank you to every OLC coach, past and present, who has helped build this community with love, commitment, and care.

We are proud to be in this huddle with you.
