2026 Oakland Athletic League Championships Celebrate a Season of Growth, Grit, and Oakland Lacrosse Pride

On Saturday, May 16, 2026 the Oakland Lacrosse community came together at Oakland High School for the 2026 OAL Championships: a full day of competition, celebration, community, and team pride.

Players, coaches, families, alumni, and supporters showed up to cheer on student-athletes from across the city and celebrate everything that made this season special. From the first whistle to the final goal, championship day was a reminder of what Oakland Lacrosse is really about: hard work, connection, leadership, and love for the game.

High School Championship Results

The high school games brought the energy, intensity, and heart that defined the 2026 season.

The Helmets championship games, Oakland Tech vs. Skyline High School, ended with O-Tech taking the win, 15 to 9. On the Goggles side, Oakland Tech High School vs. Oakland High School, O Tech took the championship, 12 to 8.

From hard-fought possessions to big defensive stops, fast breaks, and sideline celebrations, the day was full of the kind of moments that show how much these players have grown — not only as athletes, but as teammates and leaders.

Honoring the Values That Shape Oakland Lacrosse

Championship day was also a chance to recognize players who embody the values at the heart of Oakland Lacrosse. This year’s Values Awards celebrated student-athletes who consistently showed up for their teams with character, commitment, and care.

These awards honor the players who lead in big and small ways: encouraging a teammate, staying focused through challenges, communicating with respect, giving full effort at practice and in games, and helping build the kind of team culture where everyone can grow.

Celebrating the First Coaches Huddle Award

This year, Oakland Lacrosse also introduced the Coaches Huddle Award, a new annual honor created to recognize current and former coaches who have made an exceptional impact on Oakland Lacrosse and the broader Oakland lacrosse community.

For the award’s inaugural year, we are proud to celebrate Coach Kameron Corprew of Edna Brewer’s Helmets team and Coach Jenny Barrera of Castlemont’s Goggles team. Their leadership, dedication, and commitment to removing barriers, building community, and growing the game reflect the very best of OLC.

Oakland Lacrosse coaches do far more than teach the game. They mentor, encourage, challenge, and support young people through every part of the season. The Coaches Huddle Award celebrates that transformational leadership and the lasting impact coaches have on players, teams, and the future of lacrosse in Oakland.

Purple One Scholarship Recipients Announced

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was the announcement of the first-ever Purple One Scholarship recipients: Jeremiah Voeun and Cesar Carmona Felipe.

Created in honor of Jack and Soren, Purple One recognizes graduating senior boys players whose leadership reflects trust, selflessness, heart, hustle, joy, and a deep commitment to their team. The scholarship honors the quiet kind of leadership that lifts others up and strengthens the whole community.

Jeremiah demonstrates leadership and deep commitment. In his seven years with OLC he always uplifted his teammates, brought positive energy, and was committed to the organizations on multiple levels-from a participant, a Summer Ambassador and now supporting his brother as he participates in the OLC. Cesar is a self starter. Throughout his eight years he has demonstrated initiative as a player, Summer Ambassador and a leader that inspires trust.

Each recipient will receive $2,500 to support their educational journey beyond high school.

These players represent the spirit Jack and Soren brought to the game: leading with compassion, showing up for their teammates, and building community through lacrosse.

A Championship Day Rooted in Community

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 OAL Championships possible: our coaches, volunteers, families, school partners, referees, staff, alumni, and supporters.

The 2026 season gave us so much to be proud of. Across every team, players worked hard, grew together, supported one another, and represented Oakland Lacrosse with heart.

Congratulations to all of our championship teams, award recipients, scholarship recipients, coaches, and players. This season showed what is possible when young people are given the opportunity to play, lead, and belong.

We are so proud of every player who stepped onto the field this year. Let’s keep growing the game for Oakland youth.
