This past March, we started our elementary school outreach program where we brought lacrosse to the students of three Oakland elementary schools, La Escuelita, Cleveland, and Franklin, where most hadn't previously played, or even heard of, lacrosse. In addition to having a weekly practice at each of the schools, we offered tutoring at La Escuelita and even started a Saturday league for the students of the three programs to come together. At the Saturday league the players enjoyed sunny days filled with lacrosse, healthy snacks, and a chance to show their families what they've been learning. With the help of numerous high school coaches, many of which graduated from our program and are successful athletes at their respective schools, the players got into full uniform and played competitive games against programs such as Skyline and Alameda. We're looking forward to continuing our outreach starting in the upcoming academic year and seeing the students grow!
